Egg Challenge 3: Traditional Egg Drop

The purpose was to construct a structure that will protect a raw egg from a fall.

The directions were to create a paper structure that is tested to adequately protect an egg.

The class component testing greatly influenced our design structure positively because due to those testings, we were able to see how each design component did and if we wanted to include it in our design structure.

Other team designs influenced our design positively because we used Vitaly's cone parachute design as our main structure. Everything revolved around the parachute. We also used the design component of putting a lot of crumbled paper into the box where the egg is. We then added our on ideas on how to attach our egg and protect it.

Our egg Nog did survive all the testings, but the structure did not fall into the landing zone. I think the reason that our egg survived was because not ever did the egg ever touch the ground. Our box where the egg was was full of crumpled paper and was put onto the parachute in such a way that even if the parachute failed and the structure went crushing down, it would not effect the egg since it would be "floating" in the air.

If I could change something to make the design work better, I would add something to the parachute to make it so that it would fall straight towards the ground and not fall by flying all over the place which was basically what happened.
